what to expect at your first visit

Folks visiting Prairie Haven for the first time are provided an opportunity to try nudism as long as a reservation is made 24 hours in advance.

You will be taken on a tour of our pool areas and pavilion and given an opportunity to see the park and how its members participate in the nudist lifestyle. We want your stay to be enjoyable and exciting.

You’re welcome to enjoy the many campfires around the park. You will find our members to be very friendly and most visitors leave feeling like they’ve made new friends!

    • We recommend that each visitor bring at least two towels for each person, one towel to sit or lounge on (nudist etiquette requires that you always carry a towel to sit on), the other for the pool and shower.

    • Sunblock, lotion, and toiletries.

    • A cover-up/sarong in case the weather turns or if you accidentally get too much sun.

    • Shoes, either comfortable sandals or athletic shoes.

    • Food, water or other beverages of your liking.

    • If you have children, bring their usual required items.

  • Prairie Haven does not operate a restaurant or snack bar on the grounds so it will be necessary for you to bring food or snacks. We have ice available for $3.00. Small refrigerators and microwave ovens are available in each cabin room. Additionally, a full kitchen with electric stove, refrigerator and cooking utensils is available in the clubhouse. If you prefer, there are a number of good restaurants within a short drive from the grounds. Check with the office or any of the members for their recommendations and directions.

    • Reservations must be made 24 hours in advance to visit.

    • Guests bringing a pet will need to provide proof of current rabies vaccination records.

  • The office adjoins the clubhouse which provides a full kitchen, refrigerators to store your food, indoor and outdoor showers, restrooms, a small library, magazines, television/VCR/DVD and more.

  • Our pavilion provides a great facility for large groups, club functions, or potluck dinners.

  • The in-ground pool and hot tub adorn the very large sunning patio. Poolside tables, chairs, and lounges are provided; you provide the towel. A covered gazebo is available as a smoking area. Play water volleyball in our above-ground activity pool or take a water aerobic class most weekends during the summer. Clothing is not allowed while swimming in the pool or hot tub. You are required to rinse off in our outdoor showers next to the pool area before swimming.

Kind words from PH visitors and members

  • First time visiting, and felt welcomed. Mostly friendly staff and residents. A background check is required for the safety of everyone. Very nice pools at the perfect temperature.

  • The people there are very nice. It's a beautiful and quiet place to just relax and enjoy the outdoors.

  • We just stayed at Prairie Haven for the first time this weekend. This was the third nudist club we have visited, and by far the friendliest and most welcoming. When they say that they are "The Friendliest Nudist Resort in the Midwest", they weren't kidding.

  • Wonderful place! The people were incredibly friendly and welcoming. The activity pool is very cool for volleyball. Rv sites had full hook ups and were pretty level. Can't wait to go back!

  • Great place! Really clean and organized. Full of friendly folks to hang out with.
